عَيْن

Remembrances of Allah — the morning and evening du‘ās and phrases taught by the Prophet ﷺ. Daily protection.

دُعَاء
Supplication — asking Allah directly. Ruqyah is a form of du‘ā.

حَسَد
Envy: wishing a blessing removed from someone. Its harm is sought refuge from in Sūrat al-Falaq.
جِنّ
Beings created from smokeless fire, unseen by us; some are Muslim, some are shayāṭīn. Harm from them is real but only by Allah’s permission.

مَحْرَم
A close male relative a woman may not marry (father, brother, son…). Must be present when a woman sees a raqi.
مَسّ
The touch or possession of a jinn affecting a person’s body or mind — described in Al-Baqarah 2:275.

نَفْث
A light breath with a little moisture, blown into the hands or over water after reciting. Not spitting.

نُشْرَة
Undoing sihr. Permitted when done with Quran and du‘ā; forbidden when done with sihr or by going to a magician.

رَاقٍ
Someone who performs ruqyah for others. Needs no ‘gift’ — only knowledge, the Quran, and taqwā.

رُقْيَة
Reciting the Quran and the Prophet’s ﷺ du‘ās over someone (or yourself), asking Allah for cure and protection.

الرقية الشرعية
Ruqyah that stays within the Sharī‘ah: only Allah’s words and names, in understood language, with certainty that Allah alone cures.

سَاحِر
A magician — the person who performs sihr. Never go to one, even to ‘undo’ sihr.

شَيْطَان
A devil — a rebellious jinn (or human) that calls to evil. Plural: shayāṭīn.

سِحْر
Magic / witchcraft: harm done by a magician who seeks help from the shayāṭīn among the jinn. A major sin; real, but powerless without Allah’s permission.

سُنَّة
The way of the Prophet ﷺ — his sayings, actions and approvals.

تَعْوِيذ
An amulet or written charm worn or hung for ‘protection’. Not from the Sunnah; the Prophet ﷺ warned against amulets.

تَجَرُّب
The tested experience of practising raqis over time — accepted when it stays within the Quran and Sunnah.
وَسْوَاس
Whispers: intrusive doubts and thoughts from shayṭān or the self. Ignored, they weaken; entertained, they grow.

The ritual washing before prayer.
