Self-Ruqyah, Properly · What is happening when you recite

Ruqyah is du‘ā — and what follows from that

The key points

Ruqyah is du‘ā — and what follows from that

  • If it were a mechanism, volume and accuracy would decide it. It is asking, and the state of the one asking is what the Sunnah keeps pointing at. That does not make the long session worthless; it makes the short one far more than you assumed.

So the words are a means

  • Nothing forbidden happened, and the fix is not guilt. Name it, and refill. The recitation was never stored in the bottle; it was asking that was already heard.

Why your own recitation is the strong version

  • Tonight, before anything this course teaches you, recite al-Fātiḥah over yourself once, and ask Allah plainly, in your own words, in your own language.

Cited in this lesson

  • Al-Baqarah 2:186
  • Ghāfir 40:60

The passages themselves are in the lesson and in the verse library, with the Arabic, the transliteration and the Sahih International translation.
