Who he is
Sheikh Khālid bin Ibrāhīm bin Muhammad al-Ḥibshī is a Saudi scholar and raqi from Jeddah, born in 1382 AH (around 1962). For more than three decades he has devoted himself to ruqyah (treatment with the Quran and the supplications of the Prophet ﷺ), becoming one of the best-known teachers of this field in the Muslim world.
He began practising ruqyah in 1410 AH (around 1990) and gave himself to it full-time from 1412 AH (around 1992). Alongside it he has served since 1417 AH (around 1996) as imam and khatib of the al-Sulayman mosque in Jeddah. He completed his bachelor’s degree in 1413 AH and later added certificates in ḥijāmah (cupping) earned in Egypt, Britain and Australia, in therapeutic nutrition, and in first aid, a detail that says something about his method: he has never seen medicine and ruqyah as rivals.
A teacher across borders
The Sheikh’s work has never stayed inside Saudi Arabia. He has taken part in Quran-based treatment and training in Yemen, Sudan, Egypt, Qatar, the Emirates, Bahrain, Oman and Tunisia, taught Islamic studies in Albania, and worked with international relief bodies, including the fundraising effort for Bosnia in the early 1990s. His ruqyah courses have trained students as far afield as Tunisia (one intake there numbered 108 students, 20 of them doctors), Morocco, Melbourne and London. Senior figures, among them a director in the Ministry of Justice in Makkah and a judge, wrote commendations for his ruqyah and da‘wah when he needed them, endorsements he says he never sought for their own sake.
His method
Across all of his work the method is consistent.
- 1The Quran heals by Allah’s permission
- 2The patient should learn to recite over himselfand listen to ruqyah generously
- 3Lawful means have their placehoney, black seed, sidr and cupping
- 4Medicine is respected
- 5The sorcerers, diviners and charlatans are to be exposednever consulted
On this site
The Sheikh’s body of work (his recordings, books and teaching) has until now been available only in Arabic. It is copyright-free, and the Sheikh has allowed its free distribution. What you find in this library (the recordings player, the books as they are translated, and the teaching woven through our articles) is that work, adapted into English for this site’s readers.
Medical first, alongside ruqyah — nothing here replaces a doctor’s care.
