Recurringfrighteningdreams

The complaint that brings more people to this subject than any other, answered without pretending it can be settled from a web page.

Safety: Medical first, alongside ruqyah — nothing on this page replaces a doctor's care.

What is being described

Not one bad dream. The same kind of frightening dream, several nights a week, over weeks or months — and often a person who has stopped wanting to go to bed.

Three things need saying, in order, and the order is the useful part.

First, that this is common

Recurrent nightmares are neither rare nor exotic. They are associated with stress, anxiety, depression, bereavement and trauma, with disrupted or insufficient sleep, with alcohol, and with a long list of ordinary medications. Nightmare disorder is a recognised condition, and the treatments for it work.

That is not the dull answer offered before the interesting one. It is the likeliest answer, and it comes first because it is the one with something a person can act on this month.

Second, what practitioners report

Raqis do count dreams among the signs they weigh for the eye, for sihr and for mass, and this site publishes that material rather than hiding it.

The thread the sources themselves identify among the distinctive items is not any particular image. It is reactions that intensify around the Quran, together with complaints that resist medical explanation after proper investigation. Both halves of that carry conditions: that the Quran has actually been recited over the person consistently, and that a medical investigation has actually been completed. Neither is available to somebody reading a page at midnight.

Third, what neither account can do

Neither the practitioner account nor the medical one can be settled tonight, by you, on the basis of what you dreamt. Which is why the practical answer does not require winning that argument.

What to do

Perform the prescribed response every time, without exception — the dry spitting to the left, the refuge, telling nobody, turning over. It costs fifteen seconds and it is the most reliably useful item on this page.

Hold the adhkār at both ends of the day and Āyat al-Kursī before sleep, as a habit rather than an experiment, for six weeks. Recite over yourself before bed; the three Quls with a blow and a wipe is a complete act and takes under a minute.

Keep three lines a night — how you slept, how you felt, what happened. Not what it meant. Six weeks of that will tell you what no memory can, because memory in this area reports the worst night as though it were the week.

And see a doctor about your sleep, taking the record with you.

What not to do

Do not look the dream up, do not describe it to everybody, and do not pay somebody to tell you what it means. Above all, do not reach a conclusion in week two. Frequency across weeks is the only measurement available here, and it is invisible until it has been written down.
